Amateur and professional photographers are encouraged to put Alfred
Wainwright's View of Snowdonia. Landscape-guides best picture for
2011-12 Viewpoint competition.
Interest in Alfred Wainwright's Lake District walking guides has been
growing as a result of Julia Bradbury's Wainwright Walks series on
the BBC. The second series is currently running on BBC2.
The photo competition will be judged by local professional photographers.
Mike Mumford says: "We're looking for photos with a strong Wainwright
theme. So it could be something based on a location or maybe a description
used in Alfred Wainwright’s Snowdonia 101 Master Viewpoints
and Walks.

"This could be combined with aspects of mountain adventure, such as
climbing, walking and biking, as well as mountain landscapes. You
could for instance find the same viewpoint he used for one of his
drawings."
First Prize £100.00 worth of books or prints from Mumfordbooks.
Timeless Award for Best Photograph will be offered annually and announced
Mid-Summer each year. It will consist of a specially commissioned
crystal glass engraved plaque.
One runner up will receive a Prize of £50.00 worth of books from Landscape-guides.
Both pictures will also be displayed in our Competition Gallery, as
well as being shown on the website - www.mumfordbooks.co.uk.
What I love about the Snowdonia is that it's got a great variety of
landscape in a very compact area. So there's certainly no shortage
of subject matter for enthusiastic photographers."
The closing date is Wednesday 11th March 2012 and entries should either
